We amused ourselves last night by playing "Guess which kid this is?" with old photos and video's of the other children.  They were fascinated and often mistook Owen for Anya.  It seems like just yesterday that they were small enough to entertain themselves for days with repeatedly climbing a pile of dirt dumped to fill in the yard....over and over they climbed UP and slid down on their butts....Also made me wonder if anyone ever took any photos or video's of THEM when they were babies???  Did anyone ever care enough to snap a photo??

So we are cutting up, slumber party style, well into the night (no, i still am not on Latvian time), hotter than a sauna with bugs buzzing everywhere and ZIP..the lights go out.  In the entire hotel.  Everywhere.  I guess they had decided it was bedtime for us all???!!!!

Why couldn't the power have gone out many nights earlier at the Bonus Klub across the street?!?!?!?!??!

The one good thing with our power outage is that it seemed to instantly cool off.  So we all dozed off to sleep, swatting giant post Soviet mosquitoes.

  1. That was one of the saddest things about our son that was so sad to me. When he officially got to leave the government guardianship, he had only one suitcase full of belongings to his name, and NO photos of his life before we hosted him at age 15. He was like a child without a beginning.

  2. I am so glad that you are taking lots of photos now. They will one day be able to look back and see where they came from.
